Position: Behavior Intervention Specialist and Behavior Health Technician, Project SOAR/ROAR
Reports To: Clinical Manager, Project SOAR/ROAR
Pay Rate: $40,385.00 annually

$2,000 Sign-On Bonus*
*$500 at 90 days, $500 at 180 days and $1,000 at 1 year

The Behavior Intervention Specialist and Behavior Health Technician (BHT) for Project SOAR/ROAR works with students in Maplewood Elementary School and Cambridge Springs Elementary School. Worker provides direct services to assigned caseload and must be able to follow a prescribed treatment plan.


  • Designs behavioral interventions in collaboration with the family, treatment team and schools for a maximum of ten (10) students.
  • Performs treatment/crisis/disposition plan development for a maximum of ten (10) students.
  • Provides individual therapy and supervision of psychoeducational groups
  • Provides face-to-face, school or community and/or telephone contat with student's primary caregiver(s)
  • Provides crisis intervention
  • Provides clinical guidance for Behavior Health Technician
  • Acts as the administrative and clinical liaison to the SBBH school district administration, family, and community.
  • Performs data collection and model evaluation. Maintains students' behavioral health paperwork/records.
  • As the caseload of ten students builds, or if coverae is required due to call off, the BIS will deliver direct care by functioning as a BHT. When functionin as a BHT, the BIS is responsible for the following:
    • Implements school-based treatment behavioral health treatment plans
    • Tracks measurable objectives
    • Documents treatment activities and responses
    • Communicates overall proress through written ad oral reports
    • Attends clinical team meetings
    • Maintains students' behavioral health paperwork/records
    • Attends and implements the four-step psychoeducation for monthly Family Night.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Master's degree in a mental health field required.
  • Family systems therapy training and/or experience is highly preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the application of Behavioral Modification, including Functional Behavioral Assessment as used by the Positive Education Program, preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development encouraged.

Project SOAR/ROAR helps children in the Penncrest School District who are experiencing emotional and/ or behavioral difficulties in the school setting. The Project ROAR/SOAR team works closely with school personnel and includes master-level mental health professionals, bachelor-level mental health workers, family school coordinators, and parent liaisons.
