Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behavior (MST-PSB), an adaptation of Multisystemic Therapy, is an intensive, family-based treatment approach that helps youth ages 10-17.5 who have committed sexual offenses and demonstrated other problem behaviors.

Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behaviors at Family Services of NW PA is designed to help youth who have committed sexual offenses and have demonstrated other severe problem behaviors.

Interventions include:

  • Intensive family therapy
  • Parent training
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Skill-building

Goals of Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behaviors:

  • Reduce denial by both parents and child about the sexual offense and its consequences
  • Remove barriers to effective parenting
  • Enhance parenting knowledge
  • Promote affection and communication among family members

Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behavior is delivered by master's-level trained therapists. The youth and family have multiple contacts with the therapist each week, totaling approximately three (3) hours.

Referrals:

Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behavior is available to youth ages 10-17.5 years old. To qualify, at least one adult caregiver must participate in treatment.

Referrals to Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behavior can be made through:

  • Children and Youth Services
  • Mental Health Base Service Unit
  • Juvenile Probation Office
