Big Brothers Big Sisters Launches New Recruitment Campaign

January 5th, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Erie, PA – January 2, 2026

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA (BBBS of FSNWPA) announces the kickoff of its "30 Bigs in 30 Days" campaign, a bold effort to recruit 30 new adult mentors over the next 30 days. This initiative comes in response to the growing number of children and young adults in Erie and Crawford Counties who are looking for a caring and consistent mentor through BBBS of FSNWPA.

BBBS of FSNWPA has long been a leader in supporting youth through its community-based mentoring program, which matches children beginning at age six (6) through young adulthood – or "Littles" – with caring adult volunteers – or "Bigs" – to walk alongside them.

"One person can make all the difference in a child's life," said Hannah Fuller, Program Manager for BBBS of FSNWPA. "We believe every one of us can benefit from having one person invested in our success, and this offers the perfect opportunity to give back and make a lasting impact in a child's life."

The "30 Bigs in 30 Days" campaign also coincides with National Mentoring Month in January. "National Mentoring Month is a reminder that one connection can change a life," said Fuller. "Mentorship starts with a connection and grows into a lifelong impact."

BBBS of FSNWPA is seeking adults aged 18 and over in Erie and Crawford Counties who are ready to commit to spending a minimum of four (4) hours each month with a Little. No special skills are needed – a Big is simply someone who listens, encourages, and points out possibilities.

Bigs are part of a team of caring and important adults in a young person's life. They receive guidance, activity ideas, and ongoing coaching from dedicated Match Support Specialists to ensure every match is safe, supported, and meaningful.

The "30 Bigs in 30 Days" campaign will take place until the end of January, but mentors are always needed. To learn more and participate, visit www.BeABigErie.org.
