Family Group Decision Making(FGDM) is a community resource that works to preserve families and promote family unity by inviting families and others to come together as the best people to plan and make decisions for family members.

A FGDM conference occurs when a situation threatens family unity. The conference is a facilitated meeting that typically involves immediate and extended family, close friends, other supports and service providers.

A FGDM coordinator assists the famly in developing and invitation list and selecting a conference site. The coordinator facilitates the conference, but it is the family who develops the plan.
