Family Services of NW PA Opens New Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic in Erie

News and Events - April 5, 2018

Family Services of NW PA has opened a new Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic in Erie in collaboration with Safe Harbor Behavioral Health of UPMC Hamot. The new Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic will provide access to the vital elements of psychiatric care and medication management. This will allow Family Services to provide additional services to current clients while also meeting a significant community need to access psychiatric services.

“Safe Harbor has a longstanding reputation for providing quality mental health services in our community, and they share our values and commitment to quality,” said Greg Loop, President and CEO of Family Services of NW PA. “We want to continue to serve our client base well, and this partnership with Safe Harbor allows us to do that.”

In addition to serving adults and children already enrolled in behavioral health programs offered at Family Services of NW PA, referrals for new clients are also being accepted. Each referral will obtain an intake and assessment appointment with a clinic therapist, who will determine whether there is a desire or need for psychiatric services.

“Rather than work competitively, we are working together,” said Mandy Fauble, Ph.D., L.C.S.W., Executive Director of Safe Harbor Behavioral Health of UPMC Hamot. “Our goal is to provide increased choice for individuals, and to share resources among providers.”

Family Services of NW PA’s existing therapy staff will work alongside a team of experienced psychiatrists. This shared physician team includes Dr. Antonio Simora, the clinic’s Medical Director, Dr. Jamie Fuhrer, Dr. Geoffrey Sinner, and Dr. Kristina Semeniken. Lynne Fike will also join the team as the clinic’s nurse.

Family Services of NW PA continues to offer Family and Trauma Counseling Services, including counseling for individuals, couples and families, as well as trauma counseling services for children and teens that have experienced traumatic life events. Many will remember that Family Services of NW PA was the first in the region to offer Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based program for children 4 to 18 years old.

“Family Services of NW PA has been providing high quality outpatient services for years,” said Steve Minick, Vice President at Family Services of NW PA. “We are open to new partnerships and opportunities to expand access to our services.”

Prior to opening the new Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, Family Services of NW PA opened multiple satellite locations in an effort to make counseling services more accessible to families living in the City of Erie. By partnering with local community centers and schools, Family Services of NW PA now offers Family and Trauma Counseling Services at the Booker T. Washington Center, Pfeiffer Burleigh School, Union City Elementary School, Union City Middle School, and the Union City Family Support Center.

The new Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic at Family Services of NW PA is located at 5100 Peach Street, the agency’s headquarters in Erie. To learn more, please call the Intake Specialist at 814-866-4507.
