Mission
Erie County Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is a community resource that works to preserve families and promote family unity by inviting families and others to come together as the best people to plan and make decisions for family members.

Vision
FGDM will create an opportunity for the voice of family to be heard. Families will have the primary role in decision making about their family concerns as the FGDM process becomes an integral part of the child serving system in Erie County.

Beliefs
Family members know their families best.

• All families have the ability to come together and solve family problems
• All Families have some resources they can count on to help them in times of need
• Families should choose which relative, friends and providers will attend their family conference

What is Family Group Decision Making?
Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is more a family gathering to which service providers are invited, than an agency meeting to which family members are invited.
